Meet the next level bar pie. Served in a 500-degree skillet, every pizza served at Cast Iron Kitchen has the perfect crisp, a thin-crust, and stays hot - but where did the concept of the bar pie come from, anyways?
The “Home of the Bar Pie” is titled Eddie's Pizza in New Hyde Park, New York. They trademarked the phrase in Federal Court back in 1992 to describe the thin crust pizzas their restaurant had been serving since the early 1940s.
With the trademark - Eddie’s legally is the only pizzeria that can refer to their style of pizza officially as a “bar pie.” A pizzeria nearby Eddie’s called DiVittorios was even met with a cease-and-desist letter upon learning that they had been using the same name.
To avoid the issue, many restaurants use the term “bar pizza” and “bar-style pizza” to refer to the perfectly crispy and delicious pizza we’ve all come to know and love - especially here at Cast Iron Kitchen.
